In this message recognize our outstanding Students of the Marking Period for the 1st Marking Period of the 2021-2022 school year. Congratulations to all our recipients. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year Attales Family!!!
Congratulations to the newest members of our Emma C. Attales Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. On Thursday evening, November 18th, twenty-one of our students became part of Attales Middle School history by being inducted as new members into our Emma C. Attales Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.... our nation’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious student recognition program. We gathered to formally recognize these students who were selected by our faculty for successfully completing their candidacy and the rigorous selection process that preceded it. In addition to the strong academic records which established the eligibility for membership, our inductees were also evaluated by a selection committee through the lens of the 5 pillars of the National Junior Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship. Our new members are leaders in many student organizations and will make a positive contribution to our Attales Family and our community through many upcoming projects and service learning activities. We are proud of our new members and we can’t wait to see what the future holds in store for them and for our National Junior Honor Society chapter. A special thank you to all those who assisted in this event in any way, to our supportive parents, community, and BOE....to our staff that is second to none....and to our students who are going to change the world! This is just another reason why Attales Middle School is such a special place! From our Advisor, Mrs. Sherri Liepe, our Principal, Kevin Burns, our Superintendent, Dr. Dooley, and our twenty-one new NJHS members...THANK YOU!
We had a great time on Weds 10/14/21 at the Attales High School Open House! 8th graders and their parents were able to talk to representatives from some of our local high schools to get information when applying to schools this year. Thanks to all who attended and special THANK YOU to our high school reps!
One of the goals that came out of our "Student Summit" last spring was to increase the academic offerings at the Attales Middle School. As a result of the leadership of those students involved in that summit, we launched our "4th Special" initiative this year. This initiative introduces our students to several new academic opportunities through the expansion of our "specials" offerings. One such example is our new Aviation Sciences & Rocketry course led by Mr. Adair. This week the students in this course got to launch their rockets on the Attales field to demonstrate the physics involved in such flight. A special "Thank You" to our Fire Chief, Roy Talley, of the Absecon Fire Department for their support with this project. Next week, students in this Aviation Sciences & Rocketry course will transition into the Forensic Sciences course with Mrs. D'Amato for the remainder of the first marking period.
Attales Family, this is a link to our Back to School Night teacher videos in lieu of our traditional in-person teacher presentations that occur on BTSN. Weather permitting, we are still planning on having our opening presentation and introductions followed by Q & A session at our Attales BTSN in the front loop Thurs 9/23 @ 6pm. Please review the videos at your convenience and reach out to your child's teacher with any questions. Thank you! UPDATE: This PDF has been updated with Google Meet Links for our VIRTUAL Back to School Night 9/23/21.
REMINDER: All parents and students must complete and sign off on the District Use Agreement for Technology Devices form prior to being able to use/take home chromebooks.
Attales Family, in this video we explain how to read a student schedule in our block schedule system. It might look complicated but once you go through one day it's actually pretty easy. We're looking forward to getting our Attales Family back together next week as we start the 2021-2022 school year.
Attales Family, is this video our Principal, Mr. Burns, discusses a few of the special projects that were wrapped up over the summer and recognizes the efforts of our “Organization 32” volunteers (aka Student Summit) as well as our “Attales Avengers” (staff volunteers), BOE reps, and parent group volunteers who made much of this possible. Some of the topics discussed in this video include a proposal for a new grading scale and the rationale behind such a proposal, additional academic recognitions for our students, increased academic opportunities through additional specials, mindfulness breaks, and more. Join us for a virtual Parent/Principal Q&A on August 17th @ 2pm (meeting link will be available on our social media and our website). We hope our Attales Family is enjoying the summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.
In May of this year, we held our first-ever Attales Student Summit where over 30 of our students got together to brainstorm ideas and think of ways to make our school even better. This project was designed to continue to find ways to include our students in the decision making process at Attales and to continue to reinforce to our students that their voice matters. This survey is a product of the hard work that our Student Summit volunteers put into making Attales even better in the years to come. Below is a list of various topics of study for possible future specials and/or electives. These ideas and topics below came out of our Student Summit and were then also linked with course offerings/career pathways at our area high schools and choice schools as well. The goal is to introduce our students to as many topics/concepts as we can during their 4 years at Attales so that our students can make informed decisions when they apply to area high schools/choice schools at the start of their 8th grade year. Expanding course opportunities will also let our students get a feel for various potential career pathways after high school and beyond. Our Attales students took this survey in June of this school year. At this point, we would also like to extend this opportunity to our Attales parent/guardian interest as well. We will then use the data from this parent survey along with our student survey data as we build out possible new specials and/or electives over the coming years. Please review the Student Summit survey below and select up to 4 choices from each category below regarding topics you would most like to see at Attales at some point in the coming years. The last day to complete this Attales Parent/Guardian survey will be next Thursday, July 29th. Mr. Burns and Mrs. Carver would like to send out a special THANK YOU to Marina H, Tommy C., and Matthew V., for volunteering to take on a leadership role in the creation of this Student Summit Survey! You guys are
On Friday, June 18th, our Attales Middle School Class of 2021 concluded their career with a beautiful, outdoor ceremony in front of their family and friends. A big thank you to Brian Mills and our facilities and grounds crews for doing such an outstanding job beautifying the front loop for our ceremony as well as Attales' own Mrs. Janice Clarke for her organization and attention to detail to ensure a smooth ceremony. We would also like to thank Mike Morris for the hours he spent setting up the stage, the sound, and video capabilities. Class of 2021, our entire Attales Family wishes you nothing but the best as you embark on your next journey in life. Remember…KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE HORIZON! Once a Crusader….Always a Crusader. Congrats to the Class of 2021!
On Friday, June 18th, we held our Second Annual End of Year Thank You Event. This event was for students who made it through the entire year without receiving one discipline referral or failing one class for the year. We had over 250 students in attendance! The kids had a blast! It was so nice to all be together again, outside, having fun, enjoying the company of others.
