Greetings Absecon School District Families!

As we begin to embark upon another amazing school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, the Absecon community. My name is Lindsay Reed and I am excited to join the Absecon School District family as the Director of Special Services/Curriculum this year. The 2018-2019 school year looks to be a year for dynamic changes in our district that will strengthen our programs and services to better meet the needs of our students. Under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Dooley, I am joining Joe Giaradina and Kevin Burns to support the administrative team in positively influencing our school community.

My journey through the field of education began as a school psychologist with not just a focus on the analysis of social, behavioral, academic, and cognitive trends in students; rather, a role that allowed me to build relationships to support positive student growth and development. Over time, my position evolved into the field of special education administration where I was fortunate to lead groups of special professionals who shared my vision for student service provision. Entering this new phase of my career with the Absecon School District, I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm and working collaboratively with a group of very talented educators. As a team, we maintain a focus on providing high quality programs and services to all students with a focus on equity and integrity in the delivery of resources.

As a means of promoting student growth and supporting our educational professionals, the District now includes a guidance counselor at both the H.Ashton Marsh Elementary School and Emma C. Attales Middle School. Through a proactive approach, team members within the special services department will be focusing on strengthening student character and meeting their needs above and beyond academic content. In supporting our teaching staff, an increased amount of quality professional development opportunities; in addition to Language Arts and Mathematics coaches in the district, will be available to strengthen our skill set to meet the ever changing demands of our role as educators.

I thank the Board of Education and Dr. Dooley for allowing me to join the Absecon School District family. Looking forward, this school year will be collaborative, focused, and dedicated to serving your children with the highest level of educational and developmental supports. I am excited to be here in Absecon and hope to see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Lindsay Reed
