Superintendents Leadership Award - The Superintendent’s Leadership Award is designed to honor a Fourth Grade student who exemplifies outstanding leadership qualities and leads by example. From each fourth grade class, three students were nominated for this prestigious award. These students were evaluated on several key criteria: Initiative, Teamwork, Responsibility, Communication, and Problem Solving. The evaluation process was comprehensive, involving assessments by their classroom teachers, special area teachers, and Mrs. Basdekis, who oversees the fourth grade lunch recess.
The recipient of the Superintendent’s Leadership Award truly stands out as a leader among their peers, demonstrating exemplary conduct and inspiring others through their actions. As described by her classroom teacher, this student has “consistently shown initiative, supported her peers, and contributed positively to our school community. Whether it’s through organizing class projects, helping classmates understand difficult concepts, or showing kindness and respect to everyone, she has proven to be a true leader.”
Kinley H.
Jayson Carranza Award - Jayson Carranza was a 4th Grade student who had an incredible sense of family - both biological and his school “family.” Jayson came from a very large extended family and he felt the need to treat everyone as if they were a part of his family. Jayson had a twin brother, Justin, and a cousin, Edwardo, who were the same age as him, so it was just natural for him to include others in his circle.
Jayson was always ready to help others, students and teachers alike. He was just that kind of boy. He had a unique sense of selflessness and always put others first, willing to lend a hand wherever and however needed. Jayson loved to read and write non-fiction. Jayson always gave an A+ effort in school. Jayson will always be remembered for his sense of family, selflessness and willingness to help others.
Jean G.
Jimmy Murphy Award - The Jimmy Murphy award is presented to the third grade student who exemplifies the positive characteristics for which he stood. Jimmy was a Marsh student who was entering the fourth grade, when he lost his battle to leukemia. Jimmy is remembered as a caring student who never complained or excused himself from responsibility even when he was feeling at his worst. We remember his positive attitude towards learning and life, his conscientious effort to achieve and the joy he brought to both his classmates and teachers.
