ABSECON — The Attales Middle School Drama Club put on two spectacular performances of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28 to awe-struck crowds.

The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film.

The cast was led by the Luna Taraborrelli as the effervescent Ariel and Jackson Gorman as the kind-hearted dreamer Prince Eric, with Onalee Wells and Aubrie Scull providing excellent support and comic relief as Sebastian and Flounder, respectively. Julianna Birkbeck was delightfully vengeful as Ursula, and John Marroquin-Torres captured the rigid authority of King Triton.

This year's production was directed by Mrs. Michele Miller, Mrs. Christina King, Ms. Rylee Gaskill and Ms. Beth Newman. The set blocks were designed and painted by Mrs. Carly Broomhead and the set props were designed and created by Mrs. King.
