School Safety TrainingThe Absecon School District was honored to host the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning Wednesday, July 27, for its first School Security and Safety Seminar for the Southern Region.
“We are proud of the work Absecon School District officials and employees have done and continue to do to keep our students, staff and community safe,” Absecon Superintendent Dr. Dan Dooley said. “As a district, we hope hosting this event gives the community assurance we are taking the necessary steps to protect our children. We are confident that the School Security and Safety Seminar will become an annual training, and will go a long way to keep children across the southern region out of harm's way.”
Absecon was chosen as the host district for this safety training after hosting a bomb drill with the state in June.
“Our school was used as the model of best practice for everything from magnets in the door frames to Stop the Bleed kits that are strategically placed throughout our facilities. This is a tribute to our hard work and attention to detail,” Dooley said.
About 20 superintendents and their district’s safety officers, county superintendents from Atlantic, Cape May and Salem counties, and officers from the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and Absecon Police Department attended the training held at the H. Ashton Marsh Elementary School.
The head of safety and security for the NJDOE and the Assistant Commissioner of Education were also present.
