“Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Friday, January 18th, Emma C Attales School eighth grade students came together to embody Dr. King's vision and collaborated to strengthen their school community and serve as role models to their peers. The students completed numerous projects throughout the school campus in an effort to create a positive environment for all. The students worked in teams to clean and prepare the grounds for spring, completed tasks in the school gym and in classrooms, and assisted with the elementary school students’ lunches. The students discovered that it takes dedication and hard work to maintain the school building and that through collaboration they can make a difference. The project was completed under the direction and guidance of the eighth grade teachers, Attales School Principal Kevin Burns, and the Absecon Schools Director of Facilities Brian Mills and his team. The day was a win win for all involved.
