Charlotte Helen Bacon Grant

We are thrilled to announce that the Absecon Schools has received its third grant this year to help support our Therapy Dog Program and Therapy Animal Farm! The Charlotte Helen Bacon Foundation has awarded Absecon Schools a $2,300 grant in support of our initiatives.

The Charlotte Helen Bacon Foundation was created by the parents of Charlotte Bacon, a victim of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, in order to honor their daughter's legacy and her love for animals. In September 2025, JoAnn and Joel Bacon announced that the foundation would be sunsetting in May 2026. Since it's inception, the foundation has supported 92 school therapy dog programs through grant funding reaching $200,000, in addition to many other grant and funding initiatives.

Thank you to the Charlotte Helen Bacon Foundation and the Bacon family for support our Therapy Animal Farm and the many benefits we hope that it brings to the children of Absecon.
