Alumna accepted into Future Doctors Program

Absecon alumna AraBella Pyles accepted into Future Doctors Program
Posted on 10/14/2022

Absecon Public Schools alumna AraBella Pyles, a freshman at Atlantic County Institute of Technology, was recently accepted into the Future Doctors Program from Harvard Student Agencies and Learn with Leaders.

Pyles, who graduates in June 2022 from the Emma C. Attales Middle School, is studying Health Sciences at ACIT.

“A few years ago, I ran a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network and saw kids that could barely breathe. They had a smile that beamed from ear to ear. I was very fortunate. Instead of donating money to them, I directed my plans to becoming a pediatric surgeon. This is where I developed my strong drive and passion,” Pyles wrote on her application to the Future Doctors Program. “Children are suffering every day and I have the desire to change that. I want to leave this world creating a greater impact than I did coming into it.”

Pyles found out about the Future Doctors Program on her own, and then worked with staff members at ACIT to research it and apply.

Future Doctors is designed for students entering the medical field and takes place virtually over four days on two weekends in October.

According to the Learn with Leaders website, “The program provides an extensive overview of pre-med and encourages students to think critically and quickly.”

As a participant, Pyles will receive mentoring from qualified Harvard University undergraduate instructors and, upon completion, receive a certificate from Harvard Student Agencies, as well as access to future webinars and masterclasses.

Pyles said her future goals are to attend Harvard University and enroll in the medical program there. Following medical school, she hopes to pursue a career as a cardio-thoracic surgeon at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and eventually open her own practice.

We're so proud of our Awesome Absecon Alumni! Way to go, AraBella.
