As the school year gets underway, we are asking that parents and guardians to please review the following bicycle and scooter safety information with your children to ensure they safely arrive to and home from school each day.

As a reminder, NJ Motor Vehicle Statute 39:4-10.1 Bicycle helmets, requirements states:

1. a. A person under 17 years of age shall not operate, or ride upon a bicycle as a passenger, unless that person is wearing a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet. Exceptions do apply for trails only accessible by bicycles and do not border roadways.

For minors, the parent or legal guardian may be issued a summons and fined, requiring a court appearance.
